Lobby Day! February 6, 2007
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lobby Day is two weeks away! Please RVSP today to Alison. In your RSVP please include the names of your legislators and the names of anyone you will be bringing with you. Not sure who your representative is? Click here to find out!
Please RSVP as soon as possible!  We will schedule meeting with the legislators for you.
If you do not RSVP, we may be unable to accommodate any requests for meetings with specific legislators, and will also be unable to provide you with a lunch.  It is very important that you RSVP TODAY!
Lobby day details: Lobby day will kick off at 11 a.m. in Room 50 in the Capitol.  Just come to the capitol, and you’ll be directed where to go!
Transportation Portland Area: A bus will be traveling from the Lloyd Center area on the morning of February 6.   If you want a seat on the bus, you MUST RSVP by emailing Alison, or calling 503.226.3001, x106.  The bus will likely stop near Tigard to pick up additional passengers. If you are interested in this option, please email.
Transportation outside the Metro area: We are hoping to have vans coming from Medford and Bend/Redmond. Please let Alison (or by phone, 503.226.3001, x 106) know if you need assistance with transportation.
We need posters and display boards! We have reserved the Galleria on the first floor of the Capitol for the day. Legislators walk through the Galleria all day long and we want them to see the wonderful work that we all do. If your organization has a display board that you can bring to Salem, we’d love to have it there! Email Amy and let her know about your Display Board today!
Voting Results
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Background: At the Housing Alliance Congress in December, four new proposals were presented to the members for consideration. Two of those proposals (Notification and Condominium Conversions) were unanimously adopted by a vote of the membership and have been added to our legislative agenda. Last week, Housing Alliance Members were asked to consider and vote on the proposals, which included:

  1. Affordability Covenants and Deed Restrictions.  Click here for details of the proposal.
  2. Spending Outside URA Districts.  Click here for details of the proposal.

Both of the proposals were sent to the membership for a vote, and the voting closed on the afternoon of Friday, January 19th. Both proposals passed unanimously and are being added to the Housing Alliance Agenda!

Endorsement Campaign
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Housing Alliance has been asking its supporters and members to endorse the $100 Million Agenda as well as the Inclusionary Zoning proposal.  Endorsements have been coming in quickly – over 160 organizations and prominent individuals have endorsed the $100 Million agenda, and nearly 115 have endorsed the Inclusionary Zoning proposal! BUT We still have a long way to go – We want to collect 500 endorsements!
The contest for collecting the most endorsements has closed – and the winner will be announced at Lobby Day… But that doesn’t mean you should stop requesting endorsements! Click here to find a sample letter to help you request endorsements from important organizations and prominent individuals.  Just fill in the details specific to your request, and send away! Click here to find out who has already endorsed in your County! There are more supporters to be found – and now is the time!
Questions regarding requesting endorsements? Email Amy!
