The Housing Alliance Update & Announcements is a bi-weekly electronic newsletter to keep you up-to-date about everything the Housing Alliance is doing to get ready to win in 2007 - and how you can get involved!
If you only do one thing to promote affordable housing this year, make sure that you attend Lobby Day 2007! The Housing Alliance 2007 Lobby Day is your chance to speak with your State Representative or Senator about the importance of the Housing Opportunity Agenda & affordable housing needs in Oregon. Lobby Day is happening Tuesday, February 6, 2007, from 11 a.m.3 p.m. at the Oregon State Capitol, Salem Oregon. There will be a membership meeting for Housing Alliance members only from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. on the 6th.
We need hundreds of people coming together on Tuesday, February 6 to show the Legislature that Oregonians believe that hardworking people should be able to afford housing and still have enough money for food and other basic necessities. Besides meeting with your legislator, there will be speakers, food and fun!
We need to know who is coming. Please follow steps 1-3 below and RSVP as soon as possible!
1. Think about who you want to visit for Lobby Day! You can visit the Legislator that represents you where you live, or even where you work!
2. Find out who your state legislator is by clicking here: http://www.leg.state.or.us/findlegsltr/
3. Email your RSVP and the names of the legislator(s) you would like to visit to: Alison via email or 503.226.3001, x 106 as soon as possible. The Housing Alliance will schedule the meeting(s) for you.
4. Help us spread the word! Click here to download a flyer about the 2007 Housing Alliance Lobby Day.
Transportation Portland Area: The Housing Alliance is arranging for a bus to depart from the Lloyd Center area in Portland. We will send out more details soon. Please let us know if you would like to ride the bus! RSVP to Alison, or 503.226.3001, x 106. Outside the Metro area: We are hoping to have vans coming from Medford and Bend/Redmond. Please let Alison (via email or 503.226.3001, x 106 ) know if you need assistance with transportation.
We need posters and display boards! We have reserved the Galleria on the first floor of the Capitol for the day. Legislators walk through the Galleria all day long and we want them to see the wonderful work that we all do. If your organization has a display board that you can bring to Salem, we’d love to have it there! Email Amy and let her know about your Display Board today!
