The Oregon Housing Alliance brought together housing advocates, legislators, and community partners on January 23rd at the MICAH Building in Salem to preview the 2025 legislative session and discuss key housing priorities for the year ahead.
Following opening remarks, Matthew Tschabold from Governor Kotek’s office shared updates on the administration’s housing initiatives and priorities for addressing Oregon’s housing challenges in the year ahead
The morning continued with Justen Rainey, the lobbyist for the Oregon Housing Alliance, providing an analysis of the upcoming session’s political dynamics and legislative landscape.
During lunch, attendees had the opportunity to connect with legislators and staff while learning about the Alliance’s 2025 Legislative Priorities. The day concluded with strategic discussions on advancing affordable housing production and strengthening tenant protections across Oregon.
Throughout the day, the energy in the room reflected the urgency of Oregon’s housing challenges and the commitment of attendees to finding solutions. From nonprofit leaders to government officials, tenant advocates to policy experts, the diverse group of participants demonstrated the collaborative approach needed to address the state’s housing needs in the year ahead.
