Your Voice Matters!

We are kicking off the 2018 National Housing Week of Action by showing people that everyone in our community deserves a safe, stable, and affordable place to cal home. The Our Homes Our Voices campaign gives us an opportunity to speak up and speak out together about why it’s important to us and our communities that every Oregonian have that safe place to call home.

We know that we will all need to work together – our communities, our city and county governments, our state government, and our federal government to solve these problems. We need our Congressional delegation to increase federal investment in affordable housing. Federal programs through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture help build and maintain affordable rental housing, and help pay for rent assistance and services to help people experiencing homelessness. We know that right now, those resources do not meet the need – only one in four eligible families receives the help they deserve. We need Congress to expand these programs to reach everyone who is eligible.

As part of the kick off for this campaign, we want to show our neighbors and friends how many of us believe in the importance of a safe and stable place to call home. So, let’s take to social media, and show your support for this campaign by sharing a selfie! It’s easy and it’ll kick off this week the right way!
